Our Story

The Church of the Nazarene was founded in 1908 as a denomination to transform the world by spreading the message of scriptural holiness (Christ-like living).  It is both a Great Commission church and a Holiness church at the same time.  It is a body of people who have discovered the forgiveness, peace, love and meaning in life that is available by entering into and experiencing a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ.

The Laurel Church of the Nazarene was officially organized on July 16, 1920 with twenty-eight charter members.  We believe the Laurel Nazarene Church has been placed here for a mighty purpose: to be a beacon of hope in the town of Laurel and the surrounding areas.  Everything we do really does matter as we continue the legacy set in motion by our faithful charter members.  We are part of God’s work in and through this church, and we are witnesses of the current chapter of the story God is writing.  We are here because of God’s design, not because of random chance and we must stay faithful to the call for the sake of this and the next generation.
